Interview Appropriate
The interview process is always an exciting and nerve racking time. Answering questions, being knowledgeable of the company and presenting yourself in a manner that oozes responsibility is important. If you've done your homework you'll cruise through this part but the area that always gives me the most trouble is what to wear. Wearing clothing that matches the environment is crucial, so if you're having trouble, here's my tips:
BREATHABLE
- always try on your outfit before interview, see if you can sit/ move in it
LENGTH
- make sure the length is appropriate whether you're sitting or standing
SHOES
- shoes should be comfortable to walk in, closed toe and less than 2 inches
- wear clothing that is form fitting, but not skin tight
- patterns and prints should remain low key
- neutrals are great if you're not sure
Other Tips:
- all tips above are dependent on the environment (if applying for fashion related job, interviewers may want to see the way you implement trends, patterns and prints)
- you always want to dress one level above the place you're applying to
- if it's casual dress wear, slacks and a simple shirt, a little color wouldn't hurt
- formal dressing environments, go with neutrals, include a blazer
- keep things simple
- less is always more when wearing jewelry and makeup
