How to Style Rainboots

April is a month known for many things. April Fools' Day, Easter and Earth Day are just a few of the many days celebrated throughout the month. However, one thing that always enters the back of my mind during this time of the year is the cloudy, rainy weather. Where I live, the saying "April showers bring May flowers" holds very true. Galoshes, Wellies, Rain boots, whatever you may call them become very handy during the month of April and knowing how to style them is important.

I put together three looks that could be worn to work, going out or just a causal day of shopping.

**Remember: Rain boots are a great way to accessorize. Just like jewelry, rain boots can be a statement piece which means keeping the rest of the outfit simple.

Outfit #1.) This outfit is kept simple by using a black dress. Adding the scarf and tote ties the outfit together while maintaining the focus on the boots.

Outfit #2.) Pairing a flowy top with some skinny jeans is a perfect combination for going out. Adding the polka dotted rain boots to this outfit keeps it casual yet fun!

Outfit #3.) A button up and jeans is a no brainer when it comes to looking cute but still comfy. Again, the rain add interest to the outfit and keep your feet dry from the rain!

Look for Less: Top Shop

Finding the latest trends on a budget is challenging. And as much as I would like to shop at these specific stores (ASOS, Brandy Melville, etc.), my bank account has a different idea.  With that being said, I'm always looking for similar items; finding look alikes to recreate into pieces that are close to the original is my ultimate goal... and I think I may have just found the perfect dupe!

Top Shop $68.00
Rue 21 $5.00
As you can see from the pictures above, these are two very different items. The shirt from Top Shop is originally $68.00 and is a crocheted floral top. The other picture is a dress from Rue 21 with a lace floral overlay
*What's important to note here is that although these aren't the same materials, they create similar looks when complete*

To begin, start by cutting off sleeves. Then cut overlay and slip found underneath (with the overlay, I eyed the material to see where I wanted to cut, leaving some longer than slip.) Once this step is complete, turn inside out. Pin the sip to create smooth edges. Sew.

All Finished!
